Fiona O’Reilly Zwald, M.D.
Dr. Fiona O’Reilly Zwald graduated from the
Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ireland /
National University of Ireland in Dublin, Ireland in 1990. She was awarded membership to the
Royal College of Physicians in 1993 and practiced in internal medicine and dermatology. She emigrated to the United States in 1996 to pursue further dermatology training at
Emory University in Atlanta.
Dr. O’Reilly Zwald became board certified in dermatology in 2001 and spent that year as a clinical research Fellow in the Dermatology Branch of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. She returned to Atlanta in 2002 and was on the dermatology staff as assistant Professor at Emory University from 2002 until 2005.
At Emory University Dr. O’Reilly Zwald pursued her special interest in medical and surgical dermatology as it pertains to solid organ transplant recipients. After instituting and maintaining a successful integrated dermatology clinic at Emory University for solid organ transplant recipients, she embarked on a Fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery under the tutelage of Dr. Thomas Stasko at Vanderbilt University allowing her to provide a comprehensive service of care to the solid organ transplant population.
Dr. O’Reilly Zwald has served on the Board of Directors of the International Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative from 2004-2007 and lectures nationally and internationally on the subject of transplant dermatology. Her many achievements include awards from the American Academy of Dermatology for published work, clinical research grant awards from the Dermatology Foundation and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the Kligman Fellowship Award for clinical research and a mentorship award from the Women's Dermatologic Society for development of a transplant dermatology clinic.
